Dollar Lake and Badge Butte fires close two sections of PCT
The Badger Butte Fire (http://www.inciweb.org/incident/2546/)
has closed the PCT between Triangle Lake Horse
Camp (Olallie Meadow) to Clackamas Lake Campground. This is essentially the
entire stretch of PCT on the Warm Spring Indian Reservation. An alternate route
has been established west of the PCT along roads 4220 and 42.
The Dollar Lake Fire (
http://www.inciweb.org/incident/2563/) has
closed the PCT between Ramona Falls and Wahtum Lake. An alternate route has
been established east of the PCT along the Timberline Trail to Polallie
Trailhead, then towards Parkdale and Dee and back up to Wahtum Lake.
There are opportunities here for trail angel-type shuttles, particularly
between Polallie Creek Trailhead to Rainy Lake (that's the roadwalk section of
the Dollar Lake Fire detour). You might go to Polallie Creek TH and post
your phone number there for hikers, or if the spot doesn't get cell coverage,
you might elect to set up one time per day when you will be there to shuttle
folks. Or, you may have some other, better idea. Please let us know
how it works out.
