Hello Everyone, Just a reminder of all the fun that will be happening on Saturday! Oh and don't forget all the goodies to eat and coffee/tea/etc. to drink!!                                                                                                   PACIFIC  CREST  TRAIL  ASSOCIATION MT. HOOD CHAPTER A N N U A L    M E E T I N G HELPING WITH THE TRAILS Over the years we have used the trails established by the U.S. Forest Service here in the Pacific Northwest including our Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail.  The Annual Meeting will present the accomplishments and volunteer recognition for 2011 of the Mt. Hood Chapter of the PCTA.  We have volunteer opportunities available on the 221 miles of the PCT that we maintain from Mt. Jefferson Wilderness to Mt. Adam.  This gives you an opportunity to help maintain part of the 2650 mile long Mexico to Canada trail or volunteer in some other needed capacity. ******************************************* The guest speaker this year will be David Cobb, professional outdoor and wilderness photographer, veteran long distance hiker of the PCT and other long trails around the world.  His presentation will help improve your photography by remembering the four basic tenants of photography through light, color, form and expression.  Critical composition will be discussed and hell offer an introduction to exposure strategies. Trail Crew Volunteers needed - Sunday 2/5 - Multnomah Falls Trails

Hello everyone, As many of you know, we worked on 4 trails last week to clear up blow downs and slides. Well there is one root-wad that left a lot of damage and we are going back out to clean it up! You can see the scope of the work from the picture attached, lots of shovel work to be done on this one. There is also other tread work to get done as it was mostly a log out last week. So if you are game to go out and fix the trail we could use 10 to 12 volunteers out there. You will meet at Multnomah Falls at 8 a.m. and will be out by 4 p.m. with about 4 miles of hiking. We've added to these!!! PCTA Short Notice Trail Crew Needed Friday 1/27 & Saturday 1/28

Hey there, So maybe you were thinking that we filled up these crews already and you would be right, but then we decided to add two more crews to the mix!! We've added Horsetail Falls on Friday and Wahkeena on Saturday. We still need one person for the Eagle Creek crew (we moved some folks around!) and two folks for the Horsetail Falls crew. And we need two folks for the Wahkeena crew. All the crews will be meeting at 8 a.m. and the latest they will be returning to the trail head will be four p.m. although they may end earlier too!! We would love to see you all out there, so if you were considering doing one before, reconsider and come out with us!! PCTA Short Notice Trail Crew Needed Friday 1/27 & Saturday 1/28

Hey Everyone!! We have need for 6 volunteers on Friday 1/27 and 2 volunteers on Saturday 1/28. There was heavy downfall of trees on the Eagle Creek Trail and the Larch Mountain Trail above Multnomah Falls. The Eagle Creek crew will be on Friday and the Larch Mountain crew will be on Saturday. We are in need of swampers only, we have the Sawyers already recruited!! The volunteers will need to stop hikers from passing while the saws are running and to clean up the area after the downfall is cut up. These are very popular and well traveled trails, so expect to have a lot of human interaction!!
