PCT Days 2011
The
5th annual PCT DAYS will be taking place Sept. 2-4, 2011 in Cascade Locks,
Oregon. Like last year, it will be a great time for people to check out
the latest outdoor products, spend time with new and old friends, visit with
thru-hikers, and to celebrate the past, present and future of the Pacific Crest
Trail. Set on Thunder Island in the Columbia River Gorge, this is a
beautiful location within one mile of the PCT, and the perfect location to
spend a late summer weekend for a great cause.
Attendees
are welcome to show up to the Marine Park in Cascade Locks, Oregon on Friday,
Sept. 2nd after 10 a.m. and stay until 4 p.m. on Sunday Sept. 4th. The
majority of the activities this year will take place on Saturday, Sept. 3rd,
which include: a work party (PCT maintenance), product demonstrations &
displays, a huge product/gear raffle, a screening of a the documentary / film,
"Six Million Steps", and a "5th anniversary of PCT DAYS dance
party", DJ-ed by event coordinator "Nabor J" (PCT 2005).
The PCTA/Mt. Hood
Chapter hiking information and volunteer solicitation table will be located in
the vendor area. Stop by and say hello to PCTA Executive Director Liz Bergeron
and PCTA Development Director Angie Williamson
No registration is
necessary for attending the event. A welcome table will be on site to
provide information and collect admission, which is a $20.00 donation, covering
the cost of camping and event participation for all 3 days. Those who
arrive on Saturday or don't wish to camp on Thunder Island will be asked for a
$15.00 donation. Raffle tickets will cost $2.00/each for 1-5 tickets,
$1.00/each after 5 tickets have been purchased and all funds will be donated to
the PCTA!
For those who don't wish to camp on the event site, there
are several options for accommodations in Cascade Locks, which includes several
hotels and campgrounds. The event site includes bathrooms with
coin-operated showers and the town has a grocery store, pub, restaurants, etc.,
all within a short walk of the event site. For those who wish to arrive
in an RV, you may do so at the Cascade Locks Marine Park Campground for a fee
depending on whether you need hook-ups or not. For information or to make
reservations for the RV campsite, call: 541.374.8619.
Thunder Island / Marine Park of Cascade Locks is located 42 miles east of
