Okay we still need to get at least 6 more volunteers for this crew.  If you can come one of the days, that would be great! Both days would be great! Just let me know if you can make this one. Should be a great weekend out there! So hit the reply button or send me a separate e-mail [tturner@pcta.org], waiting to hear from you all!!

Thanks for considering going out on this crew!

Logs, Blow Ups and Blow Downs...

Here's another work party for Saturday and Sunday, Aug 27 & 28, on the PCT from Indian Springs to Lost Lake. This is a 2 day event, with Dinner and Breakfast provided, and an overnight stay at Indian Springs, which is a primitive camp site along the PCT.

A crew of 6-8 people on Saturday and a smaller crew of 5 volunteers is needed for Sunday, only because there is a car shuttle and only seating for 6 total. 1 or 2 B-level sawyers are needed, both days.

Plan to meet at 8:30 am at Indian Springs Campground, on Sat 8/27.

The plan is to hike South to attack the logs, as far as possible, stash the tools and hike out. Then on Sunday, continue back where we left off and finish up hiking out the Lost Lake Trail (TR617). This means 8-10 miles hiking on Saturday and 11+ miles on Sunday. We will do a car shuttle from Lost Lake, back to Indian Springs, which takes about 30 minutes or so.

Basic work is to attack the downed trees. I'll be scouting this out, but a hiker already provided an excellent report and there are at least 15 trees down, some requiring cutting, and some just needing to be cleared off the trails. Tread repair will also be expected, but only minor tread work will be done, as time allows. This work party requires a lot of ground to cover & with work to keep us busy, so the main focus will be to clear the trail.

All tools will be provided, along with hard hats, and normal PPE for the sawyers. Bring gloves, personal gear (sun screen, bug spray, etc), lunch and lots of water.   Wear long shirt, long pants and sturdy boots, no hiking shoes.
