VOLUNTEER NEEDED (with phone attached)

Keeping ini touch with our volunteers may be the most vital thing we do. If we don't inform them about work parties, the trail will never be maintained. Luckily, e-mail was invented. Unfortunately, some of our volunteers still don't have it. Actually, it's only 13 out of more than 500 on our e-mail list. We promised them we would notify them by phone, but we are often so busy handling the e-mail responses, by the time we get to them (if at all) the work parties are full.

It's not a difficult job. Most people are never home, so just leave a message. It shouldn't take more than a half hour. Granted, no one is happy answering a phone, but when they hear Pacific Crest Trail they'll love you to death. We'll give you a script to follow. All are in the metro area and only three are not 503.

Volunteers for the Mount Hood Chapter of the Pacific Crest Trail Association maintain the 217 miles of PCT between Midway Meadows south of Washington's Goat Rocks Wilderness and Park Ridge in Oregon's Mount Jefferson Wilderness.

Members of this mailing list are notified of upcoming trail maintenance projects, training opportunities, meetings and other information relevant to the Mount Hood Chapter.
