VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR TRAIL MAINTENANCE

Spring is around the corner and while the low snow pack doesn't help the water supply, it will be a boon for trailwork this spring. Meanwhile, 'till the snow melts in the high country, here's a couple of work parties on lower sections of the PCT. Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. Bridge of the Gods to Herman Bridge trail junction (Oregon side). 12 volunteers are needed to log out, brush, repair tread and clean bridges. Crew leader: Steve Queen.

Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. Carpenters Lake to Bridge of the Gods (Washington side). 12 volunteers are needed to log out, brush, repair tread and clean bridges. WARNING: This project starts with a 1200' climb over a mile and a half to access the PCT. We then walk and work six miles of trail. This project tends to run long (e.g., finish at 6:00 pm) and you are extremely tired at the end of the day. Crew leader: Steve Queen.

Volunteers for the Mount Hood Chapter of the Pacific Crest Trail Association maintain the 217 miles of PCT between Midway Meadows south of Washington's Goat Rocks Wilderness and Park Ridge in Oregon's Mount Jefferson Wilderness.

Members of this mailing list are notified of upcoming trail maintenance projects, training opportunities, meetings and other information relevant to the Mount Hood Chapter.
