Date: February 25th 2016

Dear Sawyers and Sawyer wannabes,

Please read on about this offer for the safety training class:

Chainsaw and crosscut saw safety training classes are offered as part of the Saw Training and Certification Weekends held each year at Estacada, Oregon and Wind River, Washington. This year, PCTA will also offer this class prior to those certification events.

Current sawyers interested in recertifying during a logout project may attend the safety review portion of this class. You can then accompany a Volunteer Saw Instructor on a scheduled logout to complete the field evaluation. Or, if you wish to recertify at one of the Saw Training and Certification events, you will only need to do the field evaluation.

Volunteers interested in saw certification may attend the complete safety course. Those who have (1) completed Basic Saw Crew Training 1, (2) Intro to Chainsaw and Chainsaw Practicum, or (3) equivalent prior experience may then complete the field evaluation at a Saw Certification event.

Note: PCTA saw safety courses are conducted in accordance with US Forest Service, Missoula Technology and Development Center (MTDC)

Chain Saw and Crosscut Saw Training Course. All students are required to download and read this document prior to class.

Crosscut sawyers are also required to download and read MTDC's Saws That Sing.  (Both are available as links here)

In 2016, the Mt. Hood Chapter will offer the courses at:
