Hello Folks,
A quick turn around on this one. We are looking for a small crew of
2-3 people, for Saturday June 27th to cover brushing and some light tread work on the Huckleberry Mt Trail, which is a feeder trail to the PCT from Lost Lake CG, in Mt Hood NF. The plan is to finish brushing the last ¾ mile of trail
before it connects to the PCT. Total hiking may be 3-4 miles, and 900 ft elevation. This section is fairly well protected, in terms of sunlight, but can have some mosquitos, due to Salvation Springs.
This will be a long day, so pack a lunch, snacks, and plenty of water. Wear long pants, long sleeve, and sturdy boots, plus comfortable gloves to handle the tools. Safety glasses are recommended.
Hardhats will be provided, as well as all the tools and ear protection too. This is a great time of year to be out on the trail. If anyone wants to run a power brusher, this is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to try. Trail work
will be concentrated on cleaning up after the power brushing, using loppers and probably some tread work and drain cleaning, so it’s a great opportunity for someone new to trail work.
Car pool from Eastside of Portland is possible, with an early morning meeting time. It’s about a 2 hour drive, from Portland, on a slow and winding road. Crew leader is Leif Hovin.
If you can make this crew, please hit reply and I’ll get you on the list.
