Or if you would rather do a log out than the slide repair, we still need folks for this one too! We are shy about 5 folks, this is a great one for all skills levels, lots of things to do and learn on a log out. Plus you get a good hike
in too!
So, hit reply or send me an e-mail and I’ll get you on this crew list!!
Thanks,
Tammy
Hello folks,
And if we don’t have enough going on recently, here is another opportunity for the weekend. We are looking for
6-8 volunteers total, 2 sawyers (A or B chainsaw cert), for this work party -
Lolo Pass Logout – Saturday, May 30th .
There are 15 logs, some big, some small, spread out over the trail, with some close in and others more of a hike. We will need to have
2 saw crews. There is work for all, from helping the sawyers clean up, to tread work, so
all skill levels can be put to use.
Plan is to cover from Lolo Pass North, towards the Huckleberry Trail, so maximum hike will be almost
8 miles for one saw crew and less than 5 miles for the other saw crew.
This will be a long day, so pack a lunch, snacks, and plenty of water, as it's dry along the ridge. You might need sun block or bug repellant, be ready!
You will need to wear long pants, long sleeves, and sturdy boots, plus bring comfortable gloves to handle the tools, and don't forget your NW Forest Pass. Plan for rain or shine, especially this time of year. Safety
glasses recommended.
All tools will be provided as well as hardhats. Any instruction will also be provided as well, please feel free to ask questions as this is a great place to learn new skills.
Sawyer PPE and chainsaws will be provided.
This is a great time of year to be out on the trail. So if you want to join this crew, please hit reply or send me an e-mail at
tturner@pcta.org and we’ll get you on the list. Once the list if full, Leif Hovin, the crew leader, will send out an e-mail with meet up times and place and any other information you might need for the day, like carpooling
options.
Thanks so much for considering this trail crew!
Tammy
