Hey Everyone!
I created this and forgot to send it, yikes!! Can you help me out and get this work party filled for this Saturday? Read on for specifics!
PCTA Work Party – Preacher’s Peak Drains & Treadwork – Sept 26
Looking for 4-12 volunteers who want to work on tread and drains. Last winter’s low snow level appears to have left the trail exposed to more water damage this year. This area also hasn’t had much attention to clearing out drains.
It’s time to get the trail ready for winter. Come on out and make a difference.
All levels of trail work experience are welcome.
We will work on the PCT, in the Bull Run Watershed, NW of Mount Hood. The plan is to hike from the Huckleberry Mountain Trail trailhead on the south end of Lost lake Campground up to the PCTA, and then head North on the PCT to Preacher’s
Peak. We will work our way back down the trail. Total hiking may be 5-6 miles, and 900-1200 ft elevation gain.
This will be a long day, so pack a lunch, snacks, and plenty of water, as it's dry along the ridge. Wear long pants, long sleeve, and sturdy footwear, plus comfortable gloves to handle the tools. Safety glasses recommended.
This is a great time of year to be out on the trail, but weather can be unpredictable, too. So be prepared!
Hardhats will be provided, as well all the tools. And any instructions will be provided as well.
Car pool from Eastside of Portland is possible, with an early morning meeting time. It’s about a 2 hour drive, from Portland.
Thank so much for considering helping with this one! Hit reply or send me an e-mail at
