Hey Folks,
Here’s another trail crew opportunity. This is not on the PCT nor PCT feeder/alternate trail. We just like to help out the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area when we can.
It is the Oneonta Trail and we need to do a slide repair.
There are three days planned for this crew,
Tuesday April 7, Wednesday April 8, Thursday April 9. You are welcome to come one day or all three. We are looking for
9 volunteers each day. All skill levels are welcome to come and help out! No experience necessary.
We will be cutting a new trail across a 150’ slide area, in a lot of mud/dirt. We will be working with US Forest Service personnel, and we may even learn some new techniques like rock busting.
If we finish the slide early, we may continue to fix up the tread along this trail. There will be about 2-3 miles hiking round trip each day.
You will be working in rain or sun, so bring rain gear and avoid cotton to reduce chance of hypothermia. Sturdy boots that can give you good traction in the mud are a must. You will also
need to bring your lunch, snacks, water for the day. Also, if you have a hard hat, please bring it along as well as good
work gloves.
We will provide all the tools and instructions needed for the day. Plus hard hats for any that are in need of one. We do have work gloves, but cannot guarantee the condition of these!
Crew Leaders: Robert Caldwell on Tuesday and Wednesday, Roberta Cobb on Thursday.
So, sound like fun? Let me know which day(s) you are interested in and I’ll get you on the list. Thanks for reading and considering helping us out.
