Date: March 10th 2015
Hello everyone,
I have decided to send out a large, long message instead of two or three in a row! So, please read through and if there is an event (or two) that you would like to help me out with, please let me know! Hit reply or send me an e-mail at
tturner@pcta.org
First up, there are a few more “Bacon Bit” aka Ranger Dorothy Brown-Kwaiser presentations of “Hiking the Pacific Crest Trail; The Good, the Bad, and the Unforgettable”
at local REI stores. They are evening presentations, here are the dates and times:
Friday March 13th at the Estacada Public Library, 6:30 p.m. I, (Tammy), will be at this one (because I didn’t think I could get anyone to go out on a Friday night!), but would love some company if anyone in that area would
like to help out.
Tuesday March 17th at REI Tualatin, 6:30 p.m.
We currently do not have anyone for this evening’s event. And yes we know it is St. Patty’s Day<smile>. Having
2 volunteers would be good in case there are a lot of folks. We would need you there by 6 p.m. (I can get you the materials!)
Tuesday March 31st at REI Keizer-Salem, 6:30 p.m. This one is not in our geographic area, but if there were someone that wanted to go. . . please let me know and we can work something out!
There will be others in April as well, more on that in a month!
Also, we have this weekend, an event that was new last year and we are going to do it again this year!
The Ultralight Fest at The Mountain Shop March 14 & March 15
(yes this weekend!)
Here’s a description of the event:
Do you want to lighten up your pack for backpacking, section hiking, thru hiking, or bikepacking? Join us at the Mountain Shop for a weekend of clinics, demos, and UL deals. A clinic schedule will be posted soon on our website and Facebook
page. Attend a clinic and receive a coupon for your next UL gear purchase.
Our very own, Gary Lawton is a life-long backpacker, thru hiker, and climber. In recent years he has thru hiked the Pacific Crest Trail and Continental Divide Trail. In addition
to the scheduled clinics, there will be a presentation of Gary’s 2014 Continental Divide Trail thru hike.
So, this will be from
10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday the 14th and then again on
Sunday the 15th we start again at 12/noon.
I’ve checked and there isn’t a schedule up on their website yet, so I don’t have information about when things are going to happen. However, it is a very small area and if there
is a session you want to go to while you are there, it can happen. I will need at least
2 volunteers for each day, I will be there to help set up on Saturday and help tear down on Sunday, but would like to hand it over to others after that!
Okay, so that’s my long involved e-mail. Please let me know if you are interested in helping with any of these tabling events!
Thanks again,
Tammy
