Date: December 6th 2014
Good Morning folks!
Here is a chance to get out and do some work this month. It looks like a good one!
Wahkeena Washout
Who: 6 volunteers needed each day, any experience level is welcome
When: December 15, 16, and possibly the 17. Please let us know what days you are available. Weather permitting – we may need to postpone if the ground is frozen solid.
What: Repair the Wahkeena Trail less than ΒΌ mile from the trailhead. We worked on this trail in 2011 and this failure is a few feet closer to the trailhead than the last work we did. There will be many gabions constructed.
If you don’t know what a gabion is, you can find out at this event. It entails moving a lot of rocks of many sizes. A photo of the problem can be seen here:

Where: Wahkeena Trail is in the Gorge. This is NOT on the PCT nor PCT-feeder trail, but we love helping the Gorge during the winter and they truly appreciate our help too.
Crew Leaders: Ruth Weston and Roberta Cobb.
Please reply to Roberta at rcobb@pcta.org. Be sure to say which days you are available – you can commit to one or more of the days.
Thanks for considering helping with this work crew.
