Hey there folks,

We still need a few more folks for this trail crew this Saturday 10/11. The hike won’t be very strenuous and the work is going to be very rewarding. So, if you would re-read the posting and if it will work out for you, let me know and I’ll get you on the list!

Tammy

Good Morning everyone!

Here’s an opportunity for you to go out and get dirty! We need 6 volunteers on Saturday October 11th to help with the Upper Muddy Fork trail repair. The Mt. Hood Chapter has recently adopted this section of trail as it is a PCT alternate that many hikers use. This is on the west side of Mt Hood, and also part of the Timberline Trail that circles the Mountain.

You will be working on the south side of Bald Mt and southeast towards the upper Muddy Fork crossing, clearing rock and dirt that has built up on the trail, repairing washout damage, cutting back brush from the side of the trail and re benching and rebuilding the tread. We plan to do the work rain or shine, and request that all crew members wear non-cotton clothing to reduce the risk of hypothermia.

You will also need to wear long pants, long sleeve shirt and sturdy boots. We also ask that you bring your own work gloves, we can provide them but they won’t be as comfortable as your very own! And if you have a hard hat, that helps too.

Please bring lunch, snacks, water and any inclement weather gear you might need. It might also be a gorgeous sunny day, so be prepared for that too!

We will provide all the tools and instruction needed in using them, hard hats and gloves, if needed.

You will  be hiking about 3 miles round trip and your crew leader is Robert Caldwell.

Sound like something you might like to do? Hit the reply button or send me an e-mail at tturner@pcta.org and I’ll get you on the list for the crew.

Thanks for considering this crew,

Tammy
