Wednesday, July 23 Brushing on the PCT north of Tamanous Trail (Columbia River Gorge area):  8 volunteers needed.  Looking for 2 or 3 volunteers to run power brushers while the rest of us clear by hand the overgrown thimble berry, black berry, bracken and other lush vegetative growth that has engulfed the trail.    ItÂ’s a half-mile uphill hike on the Tamanous Trail to the PCT, and then gentle grade where we will work.  Crew Leader:  Roberta Cobb.  Please contact her at rcobb@pcta.org to sign up.

Sat-Sun, July 26-27 TKO needs help building a new trail! A lot of trail work involves maintaining existing trails; here is a rare opportunity to be involved in building a new trail!

Join TKO and PCTA caretaker/BCHO leader Tim Lagasse in building a new trail to connect the new Douglas Trail trailhead to the existing Douglas Trail. This work party is scheduled for July 26 through July 27. Volunteer for the day or join us for the weekend! This work party is hosted in cooperation with Oregon Equestrian Trails.

The  Douglas Trail is a popular access point to Wildcat Mountain and the Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness. Last year the Douglas Trail trailhead was moved approximately 0.5 miles from its old location due to problems at an old gravel pit where the old trailhead was located. Now we need to build a trail to connect the new trailhead to the old trail.

No prior trail work experience is needed. TKO provides the tools, safety equipment, training and encouragement. We will be camping at the trail head Friday and Saturday nights. Dinner will also be provided on Friday and Saturday nights even if you aren't camping.
