Date: June 30th 2014

Hello all,

Here’s another crew for you. This one is during the week for those who can’t do weekends!

Ten volunteers are needed for a Thursday July 17th Work Party to go downhill  5.25 miles using a car shuttle from Timberline Lodge to Barlow Pass.  A great Work Party for new people and seasoned volunteers.

There are 3 logs to be cross-cut out in the Wilderness and then 24 more by chain-saw in the non-wilderness.  If you are certified to cut this is a good one to do.

This year we get to move the trail away from the Salmon River Canyon 4 feet by cutting back on the hill side and then in the sandy section fill in a big new hole made by the winter run-off.  Otherwise the regular water-bar / drain-dip, brushing of huckleberries, berm removal, some tread work and cutting back some vine maple will take place.  This is the trail with few rock and good scenery.

Crew Leader: Ron Goodwin

As usual you will need to provide your own lunch, water and snacks. You will need to wear long sleeves and pants and sturdy boots, plus any other weather appropriate clothing, sun screen and bug spray (if necessary). Good working gloves and hard hat if you have them.

And we will provide tools, hard hats and gloves if needed. Also training and instruction will be provided too.

If this sounds good to you, reply to Ron Goodwin at ron.katie.pdx@juno.com and he will get you on the crew list! Then when the crew is filled, he’ll send out the ‘particulars e-mail’ with all the necessary information about meeting up and carpooling!

Have fun out there,

Tammy
