Date: May 2nd 2014
Hey Folks,
Ever wonder about Crosscut Saw cleaning and sharpening? Well here’s the chance for
2 lucky volunteers to learn just that!
When: Wednesday, May 7th.
Location: The old-growth cedar grove next to Clear Creek at my place: 21660 S Clear Creek Rd, Estacada, OR 97023.
Time:
10 AM to 3 PM
Lunch: Provided. Bring your own beverages.
Clothing: Appropriate to weather. Gloves provided.
Task: Clean crosscut saws in preparation for restoration. These saws will be restored, sharpened and distributed to PCTA crews for wilderness logout. But first, they must be cleaned. Corrosion, paint, pitch and dirt are removed the traditional way with
pumice stones and water.
This is a good opportunity to learn more about crosscut saws and how they are maintained and used.
David Roe ("Underbucker") will be providing the saws, instructions and lunch! Please hit the reply button or send me an e-mail at
tturner@pcta.org and I’ll put you on the very short list!!
Thanks for considering this one,
Tammy
