Working Group
Good Morning,
My name is Jessica Walz Schafer and I am writing this morning because you
or your group has been identified as an organization that may want to learn
more about an exciting new wilderness stewardship group on the Gifford
Pinchot National Forest(GPNF).
Congressionally designated wilderness areas are special places set aside to
provide an alternative to an increasingly developed and populated society.
And while wilderness provides a plethora of ecological and social benefits,
we need your help to steward these valuable resources.
Along with Gabe Snider, Wilderness Program Manager for the Mount Adams
District of the GPNF Forest Service, and Brendan Norman of the Mount Adams
Institute, I invite you to attend the first meeting of the GPNF Wilderness
Stewardship Working Group in January or early February 2012.
If you are interested in joining us in January or early Feb. please fill
out the doodle pool (link below) by January 11th as to the date/dates you
are available for a half-day meeting in late January or early February.

Details for the first meeting will be sent out in the third week of January.
The first meeting will take place in Trout Lake, Washington and will cover
the basics of the group including why the group is being established and
what the first project will be focused on for the year. Gabe, Jessica, and
Brendan will co-lead the first meeting. We hope to see you at the meeting
and look forward to establishing the GPNF Wilderness Stewardship Working
Group focused on valuable on the ground projects in the GPNF wilderness
areas.
If you have any questions regarding this new group or the first meeting
please call Jessica Walz Schafer at 503-221-2102 ext. 101 or e-mail
jessica@gptaskforce.org. I hope to see you all at our first meeting.
