VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR EMERGENCY FIRE SHUTTLE

The Forest Service has closed a portion of the PCT in the Olallie area, just north of Mt Jefferson, due to an ongoing forest fire. Thru-hikers are faced with a long road walk to get around the fire closure. It is very important that thru-hikers not be tempted to disobey the closure and walk through on the PCT.

Volunteers are requested to help continue a shuttle service that the Forest Service had been providing. Shuttles will be scheduled at fixed times, and this information will be posted ahead at Santiam Pass so that thru-hikers can make plans.

Please contact Isaac Daniel by noon on Friday September 10^th if you can help drive thru-hikers from South Breitenbush Trailhead on the 4685 road to Triangle Lake Horse Camp either of these dates:

· Wednesday September 15 at noon

· Saturday September 18 at noon

Volunteers for the Mount Hood Chapter of the Pacific Crest Trail Association maintain the 217 miles of PCT between Midway Meadows south of Washington's Goat Rocks Wilderness and Park Ridge in Oregon's Mount Jefferson Wilderness.

Members of this mailing list are notified of upcoming trail maintenance projects, training opportunities, meetings and other information relevant to the Mount Hood Chapter.
